Mark the Unseen Milestones

Ceremony and Somatic Care for Life’s Cycles and Thresholds

We have the map for conventional public celebrations like graduation, marriage and funerals.

But, what about all the thresholds in between that go unseen?  Or what about the lives that venture far from convention?

As a Rites of Passage Celebrant and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, I create custom ceremonies for the changes our culture overlooks, where the body has the support to move with the celebration, the grief, or both.

Giving your body the space and support to move with the celebration, the grief, or both:

The endings that have us on our knees in grief:

  • The divorce is finalized

  • The quiet house after the kids leave

  • A job unexpectedly ends

  • A diagnosis disrupts life’s dreams

  • Burnout or Menopause disorients your sense of identity

  • Leaving a faith, a community, or a role you’ve outgrown.

It feels like the floor has dropped out from underneath you, and a new ground hasn’t yet formed.  There is pressure to rush through and find your feet again.

But, how, when there is no place for your body to put the grief?

Who is seeing your pain?

And, there’s the beginnings that have us celebrate unabashedly:

  • Entering a new decade

  • Claiming a new identity or sexuality

  • Stepping into a new job or home

  • Entering retirement or the crone years

  • Friendship anniversaries

  • Finishing treatment or marking a year of recovery

These moments can carry you into your next chapter in full celebration, but only if they aren’t rushed or glazed over for fear of taking up space. The body holds the anticipation, and it’s where the confidence for the new is born.

A jump up and down moves your body’s excitement, but where else does the energy go?

Who celebrates with you?

There is potential transformational power in being witnessed in your life’s milestones.

This is where ceremony comes in.

Ceremony gives your body the dedicated space to feel, integrate and step into what’s next.

In a culture that has turned meaningful milestones into empty consumer performances that focus more on getting the picture than the meaning behind the traditions, ceremony brings the somatic expression and sacredness back into these traditions.

Let’s face it, we all have groaned when received an invitation for a baby or wedding shower.  Bored with the surface level gatherings speckled with awkward small talk and even more awkward games.

Celebrate with Intention.

Be Seen.

Collaborate and receive a thoughtfully crafted ceremony that aligns with your unique expression of your own life milestone

Ceremony Gives you:

A witness:  You don’t have to cross important thresholds alone, whether witnessed one-on-one or surrounded by your community  What feels invisible becomes tangible as you are witnessed, held and celebrated along your journey by one or many.

A Sacred Map:  Our culture tends to label life-altering changes as a crisis and something to fix and move past.  I see them as sacred thresholds inviting reverence, meaning and transformation.  Drawing on the ancient map of Rites of Passage, we use this framework as a lantern on your path so you never have to navigate the unknown in the dark.

Anchor:  A grounding space to hold onto while you’re between who you were and who you are becoming.  It helps you identify symbols, supports and practices to anchor you in the turbulence of change.

Somatic Action:  Your mind registers the change, but your body holds the process to embody this change.  Ceremony creates the space for your nervous system to process, express and complete intentional physical actions.   For example, your grief may need to be expressed by throwing a stone in water or burning a letter.  Celebration may have you walk across a threshold or light a new candle.  This allows your transition to be lived out and integrated so you can move forward without staying stuck in the past.

Celebration:  Celebration opens our bodies to the goodness of life and creates deeper connection with ourselves and others.  It rewires the nervous system from a constrictive trauma response and into an expansive aliveness and vitality.  When we share these personal rituals, we bond in a way that surface-level gatherings can’t touch, weaving authentic community and lasting resilience.

Ceremony allows Living in Alignment with Nature’s Cycles

For the endings birth the beginnings.

Even in life’s darkest, disorienting losses, moving through change with intention opens up space for authentic celebration.  Not the spiritual-bypass kind.  But, the kind that embodies the full spectrum of living this life.

Nature is in constant motion.  The shifting seasons, the moon and the tides all live in a cyclical rhythm.  We are no different.  Instead of fighting transition, clinging to the familiar or mindlessly forging ahead, marking these thresholds brings us back into harmony.  It returns us to the somatic, lived experience of being a part of nature herself.

Honour the cycles:

Grieve the endings

Celebrate the beginnings

Anchor yourself in between

Collaborate and receive a ceremony as unique as the milestone you’re marking. Here’s how we can work together.

One Ceremony

A custom ceremony for one milestone or threshold, held in the way that suits you:
• Just for you
• With people you invite to witness
• As a group, for friends or family crossing the same threshold together, like a croning, separation or decade birthday.

How it unfolds:
Attunement call: I hear your story and what you’re marking.
For groups, I plan with one organizer who gathers everyone’s input calls.
Co-creation call: we shape the ceremony and sort out the details.
Finalizing call (if needed): a last walk-through before the day.
Your ceremony: custom ritual design and full facilitation.
Reflection call: we look back at what stirred and how it’s settling.

Choose the length that fits
Every ceremony is written and shaped for you and your story.

Essential Ceremony, from $500
Includes: one combined attunement and co-creation call, a one-hour ceremony, and a short reflection call (about 30 minutes).

Extended Ceremony, from $950
Includes: an attunement call, a co-creation call, a finalizing call, a ceremony of up to three hours, and a reflection call.

Payment plans available. A deposit of $250 holds your date, with the balance in two instalments before the ceremony. Basic materials are included. Travel and special materials are quoted separately.

Simple rituals create deep meaning
Woven with story, poetry and metaphors drawn from the seasons, they become a ceremony written for you.

Rituals like:

• releasing into the fire or the lake
• crossing over a physical threshold
• sharing your story with people who listen
• lighting one candle for what’s ending, one for what’s beginning
• burying what you’re done with, planting what’s just starting
• a blessing circle, where each person offers one wish
• a crown, a toast, and a very deliberate mess of the cake
• a good loud holler from the top of the hill
• a dance party for the new chapter

Guided Passage

For changes that need more time than a single ceremony. Using the ancient map of rites of passage as our guide, we move through your transition in three phases, at the pace it needs, pairing somatic practice and anchoring with small rituals, and close with a ceremony shaped by what’s emerged.

How it unfolds
Opening Session: I hear your story and we map where you are in the transition.
Letting go: somatic practice and small rituals to release what’s ending.
The in-between: anchoring practices to steady you, and rituals for living in the unknown. This phase often takes the longest.
Stepping in: somatic practice and small rituals to welcome what’s beginning.
Between sessions: simple grounding and anchoring practices to carry with you.
Closing ceremony: written for you, when you’re ready, held privately, with people you invite to witness, or as a group.
Reflection session: we look back at the whole passage.

You can move back and forth between phases, because transitions rarely run in a straight line.
Guided Passage is ceremonial, not psychotherapy. If you’d benefit from therapy, we can talk about that separately.

Choose your pace
Sessions are 60 minutes and $150 each. A typical Guided Passage is six sessions ($900) and a closing ceremony, including ritual design ($600): $1,500 in total.

Pay session by session, or in full. We meet at the pace your transition needs, usually every two to four weeks. A closing ceremony completes every Guided Passage. Additional sessions are $150.

Every Guided Passage begins with an exploration call.
